biography
I was born in
Columbia, South Carolina. My Dad was in the military, so we moved
around a lot during my childhood. We moved to Myrtle Beach in 1981,
and have been here ever since.
I have been
a photographer for 10 or more years. I have worked at Sears Portrait
Studio, Wal-Mart Portrait Studio and got my start at Sweet Annie’s
Old Time Photo and Beach Photos. During my time at Sweet Annie’s
and Beach Photos I learned a lot about creativity and camera techniques,
as well as development of sepia film. This opened a whole new world
of photography for me. My passion in life is photography. I am told
I take after my Granddad McKay; his talent shows the love he felt
also for photography.
I won a state
fair award for “Bunch of Straws.” It is one of my favorite
pictures because of two reasons: I had nothing else to do that day,
and it was fun. I used only what is in my kitchen or house. I try
to continue photographing found objects, simply because it is amazing
what you can do with what you already have available.
One of my favorite
photographers is Ansel Adams. I admire his work as well the many
things he achieved through and for photography. He achieved so much
personally and professionally. I often look to what he did when
I feel old, then think again because he shot well into his eighties
and the start of his nineties. Wow. Can you imagine?
My work is
on display at The Litchfield Exchange. I am also featured at Palmetto
Studios along with various shows throughout the year.
My cards and
smaller prints are for sale at Homespun Crafters Mall. I am a member
of The Cultural Council of Georgetown County, The Seacoast Artist
Guild, The Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild, and The Carolina Nature
Photographers Association.
I love fun
and photography. I hope my photography shows it. |
